How and Why Purging Your Cabinet Box Is Necessary?

Be it the device or human, everything needs maintenance to function or perform better. Cabinet box is no different! It has chassis, bar holder and electric junction box. At the end of everyday, you have to purge the lines of cabinet box with air to prevent the biofilm build up. Let’s learn the best way to purge cabinet box with air.

Steps for purging with air-

  1. Remove hand pieces from tubing.
  2. Empty the water bottle and reinstall it (if water bottle is used, while using city water, make sure you turn off the source of water).
  3. Hold the syringe and hand piece tubing over a pail. Switch on the unit, wait for a moment and then operate the flush toggle, foot control, and syringe until water is purged from the unit.
  4. Turn off the unit

Weekly maintenance practice is also performed by the experts. According to the manufacturers of cabinet units, it is recommended to perform weekly cleaning procedure regularly, preferably at the beginning of the week prior patient treatment. In case unit is stored for any period length, you have to perform weekly maintenance routine instantly before and after storage.

Here are the guidelines for weekly maintenance-

  • Perform air purging for unit
  • Flush the system with disinfectant solution
    • Switch off the unit.
    • Empty water bottle
    • Replace water with cleaning solution
    • Remove hand pieces from tubing and hold them and syringe over a pail
    • Switch on the unit
    • Wait for a while and then operate the flush toggle, foot control and syringe until a continuous solution stream is running through the system
  • Leave the disinfectant inside the unit for 10 to 20 minutes
  • Flush the system again until all the solution is used up.
  • Purge the unit with air
    • Hold the handpiece tubing and syringe over a pail
    • Switch on the unit
    • Wait for a while and then operate the flush toggle, foot control, and syringe until entire solution is purged from the unit.
    • Switch off the unit
  • Fill the unit with clean water
    • Make sure unit is switched off and remove the empty disinfectant bottle. Replace it with clean bottle and water.
    • Hold remove handpieces from tubing and hold the handpiece tubing and syringe over a pail.
    • Switch on the unit
    • Wait for a while and operate the flush toggle, foot control and syringe until a continuous solution stream is running through the unit.
