Industrialization is at full swing, with the liberalization of the India economy in the year 1991, India has now become a super power and is catering to clients and customers all over the world. India is closely competing with countries like China, Germany and UK for manufacturing.
Gone are those days when India was just known for its agricultural activities and was known to be a rural nation. Now with an increasing advancement in technology and research, new and better ways of working has evolved. Form complex machinery to small accessories, India is now capable of manufacturing everything from scratch not only for itself but also is exporting to foreign clients.
One of the accessories which are widely used in the manufacturing process are wires and cables. These wires and cables have a variety of functions right from signalling and transportation; they help in operation of complex machinery which is used in the Wire Manufacturing process. There are a variety of cables and wires which are used for various purposes. Following are some of the widely used wires and cables
Types of Wires
VulcanisedIndian rubber wire (V.I.R) –
- Rubber coating
- A cotton bradding
- Wax finishing
- Affordable
poly vinyl chloride wire (P.V.C.)
- Plastic coating
- Cotton bradding
- Wax finishing
- Non slippery
- Very flexible
- Heat resistant
Lead alloy sheathed wire –
- Covered with continuous lead sheaths
- Layer of lead covering
- Little mechanical protections to the wires
Weather proof wires-
- Used outdoor
- Not tinned
- Conductor is covered with three braids of fibrous yarn and saturated with water proof compound.
Flexible wire-
- Number of strands instead of a single conductor
- Insulated with P.V.C. material
- Flexibility
- Used in household portable appliances
Types of Cables
Cables are used to transport voltage levels and are used for electric current. Since they are used for high current electricity therefore are coated with tender material such as jute and cotton rather than metal
The classification of cables according to the voltage levels is,
- Low Tension Cables (L.T. Cables).
- Medium and High tension Cables (H.T. Cables).
Belted Cables
- Non circular shape
- Insulated cores
- Jute encrypted material
- The belt is covered with lead sheath
Super Tension (S.T.) Cables
- Used for 132 kV to 25 kV voltage levels
- Low viscosity oils under pressure
- Uses inert gas at high pressure
Oil Filled Cables
- Used for oil transportation
- Concentric standard
- Channel for oil
Gas Pressure Cables
- Inert gas is used in cables
- High working power
Keeping in mind the needs and requirement in the manufacturing process, wire and cable manufacturers manufactures desired cables and wires which are suitable for manufacturing as well keeps in mind the health and safety aspect for the entire industries.
There are more advanced and better techniques which are used in the process of production so that custom order wires and cables can be manufactured which suits the specification of a industries without leaving any loopholes. There are new and better material which is being used keeping in mind the voltage and current which is passed through during the production process.
